Eligibility for PMP Certification:

• Applicants must have 35 hours of project management education

• Bachelor’s Degree : Applicants must have a minimum three years’ professional project management experience, during which 4,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks.

• Without a Bachelor’s Degree (or the global equivalent): Applicants must have a minimum five years’ professional project management experience, during which at least 7,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks.

Details of the Project Management Professional Exam:

200 Questions Total
Only 175 of the 200 exam questions will be scored, the remaining 25 are used by PMI for testing in future exams.
175 real questions of which you must get at least 137 or 61% correct to pass
Test is conducted on a computer.

You have the choice of:
Answering the question
Answer and mark for review later
Leave it blank
Leave it blank and mark for review later

You are given 4 hours with breaks

No watches or calculators are allowed during the test
Quick Facts and tips for the exam:
*Multiple choice Examination
*200 total questions
*You have a total of 4 hours to complete the exam
*1.2 minutes per question

Go through each question as fast as you can and skip the
questions you have difficulty with, come back to the harder
questions with your left over time.

Only right answers count, no penalty for wrong answers.
Situational word problems, asking you what you would do as a
project manager when presented with a specific real world
situation. You should be able to quickly eliminate 2 answers and
narrow it down to 2.

Definition questions: A definition of a term is given, match to the
appropriate term

Application questions: Situational questions, what would you do
as a project manager

Analysis Questions: Analysis of information given and decipher
the correct answer

You are allowed a 1 hour break. Your exam will be graded
immediately after finishing and you will be immediate notified
whether you passed or not.


After certification: you must earn 60 Professional development units every 3 years
